 Great Protection with little system demand or intrusion October 25, 2008
Over the past few years, I have tried several anti-virus (AV) and internet security (IS) packages. I have tried Zone Alarm, Panda, Trend Micro and others. I believe that any are generally adequate and trusworthy, but a site search (and my own experience) will often reveal that BitDefender (BD) AV and IS products give the best balance of protection, system demands and cost. I have been very happy with both the older BD AV Plus and the more current BD Internet Security 2008, especially when one considers the relatively low annual cost of ownership.

I have used many different AntiVirus, AntiSpam and Internet Security products and BitDefender is the best I have used so far. The installation went well and the config wizards made it easy to get up-and-running quickly. It works more transparently than others (NAV and Kaspersky). Any time a program wants to access the net, a window pops saying a rule is created or asks me if I want to allow it. I do this once and it's done! If I install a USB drive, it immediately gives me the option for virus scan. their are multiple levels of scan and all can be scheduled. Any problems that cannot be resolved can be easily identified through the logfiles and can be manually deleted. And for this price for 2 years coverage for three PCs, you just can't beat it!!
 Product Failed, Technical Support Lousy September 11, 2008
A few weeks after install, I got a warning message saying BitD was no longer responding - contact Tech Support. I did, got an automated reply telling me to run some diagnostics. I did. Now we're in week 3, and no response yet after I pinged them two more times. Tried the phone # on the website, but after several automated menus they tell you to go to the website.
Don't buy it.

This is a great product! It scans my computer very fast (about 20 minutes as opposed to Norton's hour-long scans). It's very convenient that you can download the free 30-day trial on their website so you can decide for yourself if it's an improvement over what you currently have for internet protection.
The main advantage to having the suite as opposed to multiple individual internet security items (antivirus, antispyware, firewall, etc) is that the individual components do not conflict with each other (i.e Comodo Firewall doesn't complain that Spybot Search and Destroy is trying to update the registry, which can get really annoying). BitDefender Internet Security 2008 has it all in one convenient package.
Simply try it out for yourself.
 Great Product, Bogs Down PC A Little August 29, 2008
When I bought this about 6 months ago, I was trying to find something to replace my CA Internet Security because I was unhappy with its performance.
This product is great when it comes to protecting my computer. It found viruses that my old software NEVER did. It has blocked multiple attempts on my PC, and I have had minimal problems with it.
My biggest complaint is that it seems to slow my PC down a bit. However not as bad as others I have used (i.e. Panda, Norton, MacAfee - Don't even waste your money on MacAfee - But that's a different story).
It also takes a longer time to scan the PC, but I like the deep system scan becuase it really finds things that can get into your computer.
I have recommended this product to many ppl, and being in the computer industry for many years, it seems to be one of the best I have come across
