Frustrating bridge game November 22, 2008 Why can't someone develop a computer bridge game that provides the challenge of the bidding and playing hands? This bridge game is the only one I could find for my Mac and it leaves much to be desired. I find the idea of animals as opponents or partners inane and all the robots talk too much (one can keep the dialogue minimized but one still needs to hear the bidding).
This was not an easy install. I had to get professional help to get it working. Even then it seemed to reluctant to install or mount or attach.
Hoyle Games November 2, 2008 Certainly a lot of card games on this! I only purchased it for the Bridge game, which is quite good. I can't attest to the others
Bought it for Mac October 3, 2008 This is a pretty good game for the Mac; it's a card game, so you get pretty much what you expect. There is a nice selection of games, so you can switch around if you get tired of one. The downside to it is some of the cornball elements like cheesy characters that want to talk and give bad one liners during game play. Fortunately you can disable that. The graphics are also a little low grade, and the dealing of the cards is a little slow for my taste in some instances, like when playing spades or poker. Otherwise, a fun game and good distraction.
hoyle card games 2008 September 29, 2008 I recenly bought this software mostly for playing Bridge. I was very disappointed. The program is deficient inthe following important areas:
does not provide interpretation of bidding
does not give any hints for bidding
if you made a mistake in playing it has no way of correcting it
does not show cards of all players at the end of the game for review
There is no auto play to finish last few tricks when you know the outcme certain
There is no way to claim last few sure tricks
The play is slow, requires double click for every action
I was very disappointed.
Excellent, many-faceted game. September 19, 2008 I like the Hoyle a lot. Although I bought it for practice in bridge bidding, I'm getting sucked in to the other addictive games as well. Including (can you believe) "Go Fish". I'm not enthusiastic about the characters that make up the fellow players, but you can change them, and also turn off the sound in most instances. And the Hoyle is quite a value.
