My son 8, LOVES this game. I am sure it helps because his favorite subject is math. The game keeps him going for hours. It is very challenging and exciting. A good pick for kids who need help and who just love math problems.
Math bomb April 1, 2007 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
This CD should be priced at $5.00. The graphics will not keep your child's attention and it's pretty lame. It was a wasted purchase, I have to bribe my child to use it, because it so boring.

I bought this item for my grandson - it seemed fun to practice multiplication, etc. He actually did not want to even look at it, but absolutely loved it, after playing just once. It seems to be geared to children's minds and I think it is a clever way to get children to practice math. I can only recommend it.
fun learning January 30, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Challenging and fun. Graphics a fair compared to the mindless flashy video games. Educational value is exellent, challenging and helps develop speed as well as accuracy. The challenge of having to think and get the right math answer in order to advance makes the games more challenging than the flashey graphic video games. If the animation was similar to the flashy video game adventures ( IE: Jak 3 or Ratchett and clank)it might make it too hard because of all the distractions and tools obtained. It might be interesting if that level of graphics and animation was worked into the game. The younger kids may be better able to intergrate a multi-tooled, multi-level, multi-directional with more mapping and varied spatial orientation than older people. My eight year old was able to gain more speed quicker on the game than I was.
Math Blaster Startup Help January 12, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Once you decrypt the game entry point, Math Blaster is a brilliant method for teaching basic math functions (+,-,*, /). The problem with startup is the lack of guidance on how to start the game. A line or two (in the UI)explaining how to start the game (after the arithmetic tables are displayed) would be a tremendous assistance for beginners. We were disappointed with the list of +,-.*,/ tables displayed until we accidently clicked the entry point with the mouse. The user is presented an endless set of arithmetic expressions which the user must discern as valid/invalid while exploring a labyrinth of shoot-em-up and donkey-kong type choices. Perfect for a 6 year old 1st grade student !
