4 out of 5 stars Lots in there to play with!   November 11, 2008
I bought it to make disc images. It does what it says it does and then some. Lots of other applications that are fun to play with. One let me set up a multimedia server that could be seen by my PS3.

Some is a bit technical and there are a lot of options so I would not recommend this for a novice user.

1 out of 5 stars ** AVOID NERO **   November 7, 2008
Don't buy Nero. If you do, you will surely regret your purchase: If you have any issues with Nero --which you most probably will with this bloatware-- you may expect to be variously ignored, jerked around and lied to by the company.

I foolishly purchased and downloaded Nero Ultimate, based on my use of previous free versions. The Nero suite was an absolute pig on my system, bringing my PC to its microchip knees-- even though my system exceeded their minimum system requirements. And when I tried to bear it's excruciatingly long load times, Nero's components were so convoluted and complex that I was never able to locate the tasks they claim I needed. Even a Masters Degree in systems science could not help.

When I contacted Nero for support --and failing to receive that, a refund-- I was ignored and lied to for several weeks. After Nero was sure it was more than 30 days after my purchase, they told me I would "never" get a refund because it was now past the 30-day refund period.

Don't be the fool I was... try something else instead.

So far I am pleased with the product. There are, as usual, positive and negative aspects but the overall quality is as expected. It is unfortunate that you have to buy a new product everytime there is a worthwhile improvement, but that is just the nature of the beast.

3 out of 5 stars It is was it is   November 1, 2008

I got this as it was a requirement for another program I use for backups and that new fancy junk vista. It is rather bloated and slow. It appears that they are stuffing a lot into it that most people will ever use.

I wish I could roll this back to another previous version that was simple to operate.

Buy it if you need it, just keep open source software in mind prior to purchase as Roxio is no better.

1 out of 5 stars Nero behaves badly - do not buy   October 21, 2008

Stay away from this software until Nero learn to treat their customers with courtesy and respect. Nero Vision hijacks many, many file associations and creates absolute havoc. They may think it's clever, but it's a real pain that can only be fixed by uninstalling. Look at the forums on this. Like many others, I have uninstalled Nero and will go to a supplier with integrity and manners.
