1 out of 5 stars Midway sinks on Mac OS - Leopard   October 9, 2008

I loved this game, when it worked.

System: Mac Pro, 4 G RAM, Leopard (Mac OS 10.5), Apple Display. ATI Radeon X2600 Graphics card with 256MB

Shopping for games is harder than it should be. I could not find useful product descriptions or specifications anywhere, including their web site. I researched this purchase, after previous disappointments with products that said they were "Mac OS" specific, but failed to run.

It's a simple arcade game that has multiple skill levels and a variety of challenges that you can tailor, using all kinds of variations. It has a short tutorial to make sure you can find the simple key commands for aiming, maneuvering, and firing.

You will find a really fun aerial attack - puts you in a Zero diving on an American fleet of supply ships. Very fun! There is a surface ship game and there is a submarine attack game. You can choose the one you want. I played to of them the first afternoon and I was delighted.

So, after a installing this game, I got to use it for about a half day.
The next day, it never got past the flash screens!? I had changed nothing on the game configuration, so I ended up removing it entirely and reinstalling it, to no avail. It starts up fine, but just when the game should begin, it locked up the whole computer (NOTHING would work - none of the ESC or special key sequences would break the freeze. I had to force the entire machine to power down and that is the worst kind of application crash you can get. I tend to never use a program again that has that kind of effect on my computer.)

Miffed, I produced a full system configuration report (took about 10 minutes to make a giant file), I Registered it, contacted support with the file attached. 4 days later, I got a terse email that confirmed the game would not work on the latest version of Mac OS Leopard (10.5.x) and it implied Apple made it incompatible!?

I'm sending it back. At least Amazon has been great about returns!

This game has serious problems from quitting to freezing. The game froze; and, I tried to force quit but no go.
I contacted the support people and did everything they recomended. Didn't work. I asked for a replacement disc; and, they told me to send them the old disc and ten dollars. Why should I send them ten dollars; it is their faulty game?
