I orignally got the mx518 for christmas. I saw this and thought that looks like a big dumb box and very uncomfortable. well turns out one of my friends had got one for christmas and i tried his out. it was nice but he didnt have things the way i would have liked them. so i sort of dismissed it but then in the back of my mind i thought about it. and one night i saw it for about $50 with $5 shipping so i jumped on it. Best mouse i have ever used and thats including all the other logitech g series and mx518, diamondback, lachiess, and copperhead razor. It has so much customizability you can make it feel perfect. i myself like all the weights and the small drytech grip. coming from the mx518 shaped mouse it can feel weird and uncomfortable at first but you get used to it fast and it becomes actually quite comfortable. i game for hours at a time about 4 to 9 hours a day and i never get hand cramps or discomfort in my hand.
Great Mouse May 28, 2008 This is a wonderful mouse. Highly recommended. Some find it not responsive enough for FPS gaming, but it has done well for me in CounterStrike, Call of Duty, and Unreal Tournament. It also has been great for graphical editing.
I do, however, have to say that there is nothing ground-shattering about this mouse. It works very well, is very reliable, is very comfortable, and is highly configurable--but still, it's a mouse. Don't break your bank on it. If it goes on sale or you like the cool look, go for it. Otherwise, you can afford to wait for a sale.
Logitech G9 Laser Mouse May 27, 2008 I had mx 518 before and this is way better!!!!!its a must have if your're a gamer.....
Great Claw Mouse May 21, 2008 I've been using this for two months now. It was a bit uncomfortable when I first got it but got used to it in hours and nothing else feels as good as the G9. This is probably the best for any claw user. It would probably be a little too small for a palm grip user. The wide grip is also made of a very smooth material, so it's really nice to just have your hand resting on it. The extra features like a button to change sensitivity, different profiles, frictionless scroll, etc. are all nice but really unnecessary. I haven't used any of the weights either. Obviously, I haven't been using the mouse to its fullest potential, and would not merit a $70+ price tag to me, but I paid less than 20 for it is a great value for what I'm using it for. It's nice to know I have those extra features if I ever need it. Probably only the most hardcore gamers would find the $70+ value in it. The setpoint software is also very easy to use and allows a lot of customization. I haven't had any trouble with it at all.
The only real complaint I have is the middle click (scroll button) is harder to press than other mice. It requires a good amount of force to push down, but after some usage it has either gotten looser or I have gotten used to pressing the middle harder. Also, the wire is made of a fabric so it's like rope rather than what a typical wire is made out of. Not really a problem, I just found that weird.
Overall, it's a great claw mouse, and I would recommend it for anyone who doesn't want to settle for less and willing to pay the price.
Good but small. May 14, 2008 I am switching from a Logitech Trackman Wheel to this.
Pros: It is very precise which is great for gaming and also 2D & 3D Graphics. 5 Programmable presets that automatically switch for you depending on the software you are using is great.
Cons: It is a bit small and it probably could be better ergonomically designed with a little more angle to it. It definitely isn't as comfortable to use as my previous Logitech Mice and Trackballs.
