4 out of 5 stars Very Good Product   September 5, 2008
Did a bit of research before purchasing this product, which I'd never heard of because of the huge advertising budgets of Symantec & McAfee. Turns out this was usually in the top 3 in reviews from my readings.

Installation went well and e-mail messages to Tech Support have been prompt in their reply - 24 to 48 hours.

What bugs me is when in Training Mode, Kaspersky should make it less time consuming for users to determine if there are bad things on the other side of the next mouse click. Information provided to the user when a suspicious event occurs usually refers to an IP address or file name which I'll have to look up by "googling" it to see if it "sounds" safe. Aside from this annoyance, I'd still buy it a 3rd time (just renewed my subscription with this last purchase). Not super great but darn good with room for improvement.

4 out of 5 stars A good choice for users of all levels of expertise   September 4, 2008
I had been using Zone Alarm Security Suite for several years, and while it was adequate as far as protection goes, it was somewhat bothersome, asking me questions every time I tried to download anything. Being a novice in computer technology, I found the information Zone Alarm Security suite provided for me not easily understandable at all. After reading the reviews by customers at Amazon, I decided to give Kaspersky Internet Security a try when my ZA was due for renewal. After using Kaspersky for almost a month now --I'm very satisfied! The included User's Guide has been very useful in helping me to understand how to learn to get the most out of the suite as far as customizing settings for my particular system usage. The default settings were for the most part, very adequate for my use, and the program suite runs transparently in the background without interuptions like I experienced with my previous suite. The installation was flawless and easy for a bonehead like myself. The only reason I didn't give it a 5-star rating was, (being the novice I am),I had to refer to the very excellent user's guide a few times to learn how to schedule some special scans I wanted to run. The Suite's event log provided me with excellent information on a problem I experienced with a shutdown stall I had a few days ago, giving me information I could use to solve the problem.

4 out of 5 stars This is what i wanted.   September 3, 2008
KIS is less resource intensive and fast. Earlier i used Mcafee Internet security which was taking my system resources a lot.

But i am missing the system cleanup options which was available with other Internet security.

3 out of 5 stars Replacement for Norton   August 31, 2008

Long time user of Norton. Installed Norton Internet Security on three computers and have had entirely too much trouble with two of the computers. Slow downs, random lockups with hours of overseas support that really sucked. Renewal came up and decided to try Kaspersky. Installed and had trouble immediately! Computer (Dell 2.6 mhz, 1 gig memory, XP professional) is a server for two restaurant IBM POS (point of sale) terminals (Windows 2000). The screen update for the two terminals slowed to an unacceptable level. Had to disable Kaspersky. Checked the website and found there were numerous complaints about bogging down the computer (just like Norton). Suggested fix was to download the previous issue. The previous issue worked and performs much better than Norton. Slow down gone and boots up much faster without error (Norton screwed up if you tried to use it for the first five minutes). Loaded Kaspersky on my other two computers(Dells - desktop and a protable all with one gig memory) without problem (older previous issue). Recommned Kaspersky but check the website for issue information problems. Norton was so bad that Kaspersky is looking good even with the slow down issue.

5 out of 5 stars Time to change for the better.....   August 23, 2008

I build and service computers. I have made plenty of money cleaning up or converting computers which had Norton on. I used and recommended PC-Cillin for many years until about 2006. Trend Micro has fallen from its lone pedestal and now believes in poor to no service when you need help. In 2007 and 2008, their program has been ignoring many malwares and does not do a very good job of cleaning up infected systems. So in 2008 I switched, and I also switched all my customers over to Kaspersky, and so far it has proven superior in many aspects. Whatever you try though stay away from Norton and McAfee as well...they are both crap.
