1 out of 5 stars As so many say ... Quicken just keeps getting worse!   May 14, 2008

I can't adequately express just how dissapointed I am in this new version of Quicken. Like so many I've been a loyal user for years - ~15 years in my case - and for about half of that time each new version got better. Then things started to go downhill. Several times I have tried new versions only to quickly return them for the 30-day money-back guarantee. Now I had to upgrade from 2005 to 2008 to maintain data download.
Sadly, 2008 is awful. My data was corrupted in the conversion process, but this didn't become clear until after I'd been using it for a week. Now reconverting the old file and reenter all that data would be painful - and I should never have to do it in the first place! Online downloads are broken. Old features that I valued have been removed. Existing features have been modified in ways that make them less useful. There are no REAL new features - just cosmetic changes that I would just as soon do without.
I'd give it 0 stars if Amazon would let me!
I don't know what to do now. I'm fed up with Intuit and Quicken, but it seems I have no where else to go. Money sounds just as bad if not worse, and I'm not aware of any other alternatives. If you know of one, post it here. I'm ready to move on!

1 out of 5 stars They want you to do all of the work to find & fix their bugs!!!   May 4, 2008

There are several bugs that they haven't fixed yet. They could update your 2008 with the fixes, but they want you to go online, find the problem from over 200 listed and then try to fix it yourself. If you are not already tied into the Quicken web of products, buy something else, and save yourself a head ache.

I WOULD NOT reccomend this product to anyone else!!!

just what I need, mostly selfexplaining and saving a LOT of time (and bandwidth)... I used to program my bookkeeping files in EXCEL - but Quicken can do it better - a LOT

4 out of 5 stars Painless but (unfortunately) necessary upgrade   May 1, 2008

I upgraded from Quicken 2005 Home & Business today because all the download features would stop working tomorrow (Intuit's policy is to disable download capabilities after 3 years). The upgrade and required file conversion were quick and painless.

On starting the new version 2 credit card accounts would no longer work with "web-connect." It turns out that these two accounts could now be used with (the much more convenient) one step update process. After spending a few minutes on configuration the accounts now update with all the others. A little confusing but a nice touch!

I experienced no problems with flickering screens despite using a wireless mouse and Microsoft's mouse software. All-in-all a good experience. I would have awarded 5 stars except that the only reason for upgrading was to avoid loss of functionality per the Intuit license agreement.

1 out of 5 stars Quicken FAILS   April 30, 2008

I have been a quicken used for 10+ years. Also use quickpayroll(was quickpay and was morphed into quickpayroll years ago). I am a busy business owner and deal with lots of various colleagues, suppliers, etc for 27 years. The intuit organization is perhaps THE very poorest organization I deal with, not responsive, crappy products, lots of bugs, I am SICK AND TIRED of their products. Wish I NEVER would have "upgraded" to Quicken 2008. I am not looking for a better software to replace both. I think Intuit will go the way of AMC, Eastern Airlines, etc...
