4 out of 5 stars Second in a great series   December 7, 2007

This game continues the Thief series, and it maintains the high level of entertainment and innovation.

Thief 2 is every bit as challenging and fun as Thief 1, with varying types of levels and goals which have to be completed using stealth and planning rather than a quick trigger finger. If I have one complaint, it's that there are repeat maps on a couple of missions, but the game is still very fun.

This series is even less graphic and gory than Thief one, which wasn't very gory at all. Yes, if you stab someone, they still do tend to bleed, but there are fewer undead creatures.

As with all older games, you might have to jerry-rig it onto your computer, but it can be done. I have played Thief Gold and Thief 2 on my laptop, which uses Windows XP. The Thief series has a very large fan following, who are only too willing to help you with any technical issues you may have. So I wouldn't worry too much about the tech support. If you can google, you can get this game running. Most of the fixes for technical issues can be corrected using very simple means, a patch that you download, or a special way of starting the computer. After I played the original Thief 2, which I had to tweak to get it to work, I bought a re-released version on Amazon (the Thief bundle), and I don't have to tweak anything at all.

3 out of 5 stars Freezing problems   February 22, 2007

David Tate says:
Years ago I bought this game and loved it, unfortunatly it was made for Windows 95 and 98 only. So when I saw this version that advertises that is XP compatable, I bought it.
I had no problem installing the game, but when playing it if freezes the game and my computer after 1 minute of playing.
I am not sure what the problem is, but be warned; this could happen to you as well.
I wish it ran the way it did years ago.
