4 out of 5 stars Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007   July 29, 2007

Good product. Haven't used it enough to tell if it is really better than 2000 Pro that I had. Needed to buy the Office 2007 All in One Desk Reference for Dummies to make the most of the features.

2 out of 5 stars Dumbed down and harder to use   July 29, 2007

The new ribbon design is supposed to make it easier to learn and use. It may be for some new users but for experienced users, it isn't. This version takes away some critical nuts & bolts customization features and many tasks now take longer to perform. This is not due to the learning curve, it is the inherent nature of the way the ribbon works. Once you are familiar with the program, nothing is faster than the old menu structure. If Microsoft added an option to allow users to choose between menus and ribbons, it would be the best of both worlds, satisfying the needs of both new and experienced users. The new version does not run macros as fast however. My recommedation for existing users: keep Office 2003 for as long as you can and consider going to Open Office when Microsoft no longer supports 2003 (unless they restore the functionality in a newer release of 2007).

I tried buying this from a software discount giant haha, after waiting two months I found it here for $42.00 cheaper and I had it in 3 days.

5 out of 5 stars Great Software   July 16, 2007

It was easy to load and easy to use. New edition is slightly different than old and takes a little getting use to.

4 out of 5 stars Office 2007 coming up but not there yet   July 14, 2007

It was a wonderful change to office and makes for a wonderful new interface, yet figuring the whole thing out is still convoluted. I have struggled with the outline feature for years and still find it difficult to use compared to open office. There are a lot of great new features and easy to use if you can break away from the mindset that office has placed upon you over the years. It has a lot of power but it gets no more than a four due to lack of adequate help and ease of getting it going out of the box. I bought the home version because the price was great through Amazon and the ability for three installs, but as far as the best product out there it still comes up short. I believe that Microsoft has finally taken a step in the right direction but they will have a great product when it is easy to use and learn and the help system in recent years is not.
