Buy Another Timekeeping Program September 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This Program is Garbage: It is constantly having technical problems. The earlier versions allowed one timekeeper to install the program on his server and in his office. That way you could keep your time from your office computer and your assistant could use hers to prepare and print bils.
Now you need two licenses, one for the server and one for your office. I have it installed on two brand new dell computers which are linked through a router. My computer cannot access the Timeslips database on the server. So you call india and they "fix" it, until it doesn't work again tomorrow. Support is very expensive, five dollars a minute or $400 a year. The techs speak poor english. Only the new versions will work on vista.
So buy somebody else's billing system. This one used to be good. But the company's greed in collecting more license fees, without working out the bugs, makes it junk. I have spent many hours trying to get the connection working from my office to my server, which is hard wired and about 20 feet away.
Beware of Upgrading your computer May 16, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I had an old version of Timeslips running on a Windows box. I bought a new computer. I cannot transfer the program to the new one. Sage says they no longer supports the old program. They want me to buy a new program for almost $500.00. I don't need the new program. I am perfectly happy with the old one. I paid for the license to run it on one computer. That's all I want to do. (Actually, I don't think support knows how to move the old program to a new computer.) These people are not really interested in the small firm or single user.
There are other billing programs out there. Use one of them. Better still, switch to a MAC.
Love It! May 4, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am so glad I bought this product. I've only been using it for a few weeks and have already captured billable hours I know I would have otherwise lost. I also purchased the Time to Time add on for my Pocket PC--another very good purchase. Should pay for themselves shortly.
Timeslips Rocks! November 8, 2007 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Have used Timeslips for 15+ years in my solo law practice. This product can do as little or as much as you need. Just upgraded from Timeslips 2005 to Timeslips 2008 and it went flawlessly and quickly - I mean the database transfer. Timeslips Remote is also wonderful - a paired down version that allows "slips" made on other computer, PDA PC, etc., and then you can import into the main program - even does this by email! Have had many versions, but NEVER had any problems with this software!
