De-bunking some of the earlier reviews January 8, 2009 The Kingston Card Reader is a good product. Some of the earlier reviews mentioned that the reader does not recognize cards grater than 4GB. That's not true, I am currently using a 6GB and two 8-GB CF Cards in my Canon 50D and my Canon 40D Cameras and they work/read perfectly in this card reader.
br /I do plug my card reader into a USB Hub that has it's own power source and if I swap-out a card with a different card, I have to un-plug the reader from the hub to get it to read the new card -- but it does read all my cards just fine.
br /Lastly, if you push down on the toggle on top of the unit and slide it forward, you can avoid the pliers as mentioned by one other reviewer.
convenient January 6, 2009 Works good! I like the fact that I can put in the card from my camera (compact flash), My wifes camera (SD), My phone (Micro SD), etc. I have a CF reader that is faster, but not as versatile.
Versatile and well-designed January 6, 2009 I've used this with SD and CF cards, and it performs as expected. I bought a second one to keep in my office. Things I like: 1. Price. 2. Pigtail USB connector built in and extension cable included. 3. Reader retracts into its case, so connector can be tucked away and any card left in the slot is protected. Handy when transporting with a card.
Very fast, good value, 19-in-1. January 3, 2009 Tried it yesterday for the first time. I suppose the opening slides into the case to protect slots, but maybe not needed. Cord very short but comes with an extension. I am VERY impressed with how FAST this works. Red light on the top lights when in use, not explained in info card. Drivers not needed but for detail are available on-line. Well built.
THIS BABY IS GREAT!!! January 2, 2009 This baby reads EVERYTHING!!! and it's CHEAP!!!! I depend on the Kingston Technology name when I build or upgrade computers for customers. They've always been the leader in Memory and their customer service is superb. Therefore my choice was based only on the Kinsgston name, and I'm glad I did. I doubt there will be a card that it can't read, and this baby is FAST!!! I really didn't expect it to transfer data to my computer using the USB 2 port this quickly. You can NOT go wrong for this price. It's cheap and it does the job perfectly. BUY IT!!!!
